Engineering

Thermo Design has assembled a talented team of engineers, technologists, designers and support staff to serve our customers’ needs. Our multi-discipline engineering group is capable of meeting the diversified requirements of oil and gas production and process equipment. Our team of process, mechanical, instrument, civil, electrical and piping designers have extensive experience in their respective fields.

When required for projects, the engineering department can

  • Participate in HAZOP studies
  • Provide site training for plant operating personnel
  • Provide site supervision for equipment installation and startup
  • Participate in plant performance tests

Although the majority of our engineering is completed as the basis for the manufacturing of production equipment or as part of a turnkey plant supplied on a EPF – Engineering, Procurement and Fabrication basis, Thermo Design has also executed engineering only contracts in special situations in the past. These projects include:

Basic Engineering Design for Sirri Island Gas Gathering and NGL Recovery Plant - a sour gas processing and liquids recovery plant for installation on Sirri Island in the dessert marine environment of the Persian Gulf.  Plant nominal inlet gas flow is 4 MMm3/day (142 MMSCFD) of wet sour gas and 106 m3/day (665 BBL/day) of hydrocarbon liquids.

Sirri Island Engineering Project

Feasibility Study and Conceptual Design for BRASKEM, Camacari Petrochemical Complex, Bahia, Brazil.  The scope of the contract includes analysis of existing equipment to determine the restrictions, and revamp of equipment to achieve design flow rates.  The existing natural gas deethanization unit has a production capacity of: Natural Gas - 2.015 MMm3/d & Ethane - 8.3 t/d.

Camacari Petrochemical Complex Project

Select Stage Engineering Studies for the expansion of Zaikinskoye Oil & Gas Processing Plant for TNK – BP (TyumenNeft Company & British Petroleum), Tulipan, Russia (Southwest Russia). Thermo Design signed a contract with TNK-BP for select-stage engineering of the planned Phase 2 expansion of the Zaikinskoye Gas Processing Plant built previously by Thermo Design. The scope of the project includes the technical evaluation of multiple processing options and preparation of budget cost estimates and schedules. This will allow the client to complete an economic evaluation to determine the best option for the design and supply of equipment for the plant upgrade. Each train will have a design capacity of 130,000Nm³/hr (110 MMSCFD) of natural gas.
