Accounts Payable Assistant - Part Time

Position Summary :The Accounts Payable Assistant is responsible for assisting in verifying and processing high volume accounts payable transactions in compliance with TDE’s accounting policies and procedures. This part-time position (approx. 24 hours/week) will report directly to the Controller.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Match, code, enter and process approved invoices.
  • Ensure a timely turnaround of accounts payable.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining vendor database and files.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding invoices, issues and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Ensure adequate supporting documents are received with invoices.
  • Provide support as necessary to other departments on accounts payable issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • 1-2 years of experience in accounts payable.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, terminology and procedures.
  • Previous experience in the construction/fabrication industry is an asset.
  • Proven ability to handle high volumes of work and work well under pressure while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritize activities and stay focused in a dynamic ever changing environment.
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop departmental “Key Performance Indicators”.
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite (emphasis Excel), Lotus Notes, Sage 300, AP Paperless and other software systems.


  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to adapt to new software.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to interact successfully with all levels of staff, from Managers to Senior Executives, with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Adaptability and the ability to handle ambiguity.


  • High school diploma is required.
  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Accounting or Finance is an asset.
