Business Unit Lead, Standard Products & Field Services

Position Summary

The Lead’s primary role is to further develop and be responsible for this business unit within TDE. The Products business unit will deliver all pre-engineered and standard process unit packages involved in oil and gas processing including Refrigeration, Sweetening, Dehydration modules, fired heaters, separation packages, etc. In addition, the Lead will develop and be responsible for a field service business unit. The Lead’s expertise will be utilized to guide, assist and mentor the engineering, fabrication and field service staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise the development of TDE’s portfolio of standard products that can be delivered to customers in optimal time and at a competitive and profitable price point. Interface with Engineering and Fabrication departments to create streamlined designs and drawings that can released to the shop upon award of a project.
  • Develop new and enhance old oil and gas process packages to aid in the competitiveness of TDE.
  • In cooperation with the BD group, maintain a sales plan identifying potential targets and areas for business expansion.
  • Present key product differentiators and unique solution advantages, articulate value proposition to clients.
  • Develop and manage relationships with customers by active communication and assist BD with face-to-face visits, when required.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to assist clients.
  • Liaise with clients on a regular basis to gauge their satisfaction with products and services . Communicate findings to TDE departments to address specific concerns.
  • Supervise project managers and project coordinators within the standard products business unit.
  • Effectively respond to technical queries by clients.
  • Continually monitor the market, competition and customer specific strategic and operation factors to ensure reliable market intelligence is available to support sales activity through the products business unit.
  • Lead internal seminars on Engineering and Manufacturing best practices.
  • Establish a plan to adequately cover and support existing customers and continue to increase customer portfolio and uncover new opportunities.
  • Supervise field services personnel including the Field Services Coordinator, third party contractors and TDE staff assigned to site work.
  • Assist in the development of manpower planning and resource allocation for site supervision at Oil & Gas Plants supplied by TDE.
  • Develop and maintain systems and procedures to respond to customer requests for after sales service and parts.
  • Negotiates or approves contracts for the business units as required.
  • Acts as an Sponsor for awarded projects as required.
  • Screens, selects, hire, transfers, and discharges direct report employees.
  • Communicates clearly and directly with direct reports concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability. Complete annual performance appraisals on all direct reporting staff.
  • Participate in weekly project meetings and guide shop decisions as necessary.
  • Provide leadership to enhance safety culture.

Knowledge

  • 15+ years of experience as a Technical Engineer.
  • Knowledge of Heavy Oil and Gas Processing applications.
  • Proficient knowledge of industry best practices and processes.
  • Good understanding of financial metrics.
  • Experience in a Risk Management.
  • Ability to manage complex engagements.
  • Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize activities, and stay focused in a dynamic, ever changing environment.
  • Knowledge of Aspen and/or similar process modeling software.
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite (with emphasis on Word, PowerPoint and Excel), Lotus Notes, Acrobat Pro, and other software systems.

Experience

  • 3+ years of related experience in Project Accounting or Finance, supporting Project Managers or Project teams.
  • Proficient knowledge of industry best practices.

  • Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritize activities and stay focused in a dynamic ever changing environment.
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite (emphasis on Word & Excel), Lotus Notes, Acrobat Pro, Primavera, Sage 300 and other accounting/time keeping software.
  • Worked on site to successfully install commission and start up oil and gas processing plants.

Education

  • A B.Sc./Masters/ in Engineering, or equivalent combined with a minimum of 15+ years’ experience with an oil / gas producer and EPC/EPCM company in the oil and gas industry.
