Payroll/Human Resources Administrator

TDE has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, energetic and organized individual to join our Human Resources team as a Payroll/Human Resources Administrator. This position is responsible for all activities related to salaried payroll & month/year end. The Payroll/HR Administrator is also responsible for a wide variety of human resources tasks such benefits administration, vacation tracking, recruitment, termination paperwork, ROE’s etc.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Day to day payroll for salary employees, paid monthly. Provide coverage as required for payroll of hourly employees, paid bi-weekly.
  • Identify and resolve payroll issues and answer questions from employees regarding payroll.
  • Audit T4’s and provide monthly and year end reporting as required.
  • Remain current on all legislation and tax compliance.
  • Maintain employee information within computerized and physical filing systems.
  • Compile statistical reports with personnel-related data such as hires, dismissals, performance appraisals, and attrition rates.
  • Process termination paperwork and ensure Records of Employment (ROE’s) are initiated immediately with Service Canada for all exited employees.
  • Assist in benefits management including setup, coordination and maintenance.
  • Assist in the preparation of recruitment advertisements, participate in applicant screening, interview coordination and reference checks.
  • Prepare and collect electronic offer letters and hire packages for new employees and conduct new hire orientation as required.


  • Completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation with the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) is required.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Payroll; experience with SAGE 300 is a definite asset.
  • Experience in processing hourly and salaried payroll.
  • Understanding of the full payroll cycle and of basic accounting is an asset.
  • Experience is other areas of human resources is also an asset. 
  • Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite (emphasis on Word, & Excel), Lotus Notes, Acrobat Pro, and other software systems.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills – must be able to interact successfully with all levels of staff, from Managers to Senior Executives, with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Adaptability and the ability to handle ambiguity.


  • Minimum high school diploma, some post-secondary education preferred.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required.
