Position Summary
This position will be responsible for working closely with the operations group on planning, scheduling, schedule forecasting, and risk management. Provide project control services to the Project Director and/ or Project Manager during implementation of multiple projects of varying sizes and complexity. Responsible for the timely issue of project control deliverables & progress reports. Provide leadership to planning engineers, schedulers and cost engineers to plan, monitor, and control the execution of projects within contractual time and budgetary limitations, optimizing resource utilization.
Must have a strong knowledge of multi-discipline activities in an EPCM environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop systems and procedures for Project Control functions at the onset of projects and maintain in compliance with client requirements in order to facilitate the process of project monitoring.
  • Recommend to Operations the staffing requirements based on the workload and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.
  • Prepare the progress measurement system including monthly manpower histograms and progress S Curves.
  • Manage baseline schedule development validate baseline information. Participate in development of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Support Operations through schedule progression from proposal stage through to project execution and close-out. Review the status continuously and notify the Project director/ Manager & VP Operations of the progress and the areas needing action for schedule adherence.
  • Update schedules on a regular basis, by assessing actual work done and analyze effort expended. Perform critical path analysis.
  • Familiar with scheduling implications of contract terms.
  • Articulate change order impacts to project schedule.
  • Identify and analyze schedule conflicts and recommend resolutions to problems.
  • Participate in project planning and scheduling review meetings.
  • Develop and maintain project/proposal schedules in relation to time, cost and measurement of the Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication (EPF) project.
  • Monitor, analyze and report progress for all phases of the project.
  • Develop and maintain project-coding structures including:
    • Work breakdown structures (WBS)
    • Resource breakdown structures (RBS)
    • Cost breakdown structures (CBS)
    • Coding for client requirements
  • Ensure internal and external deadlines are met consistently.
  • Implement and enforce Scheduling/Planning procedures, policies and forms.
  • Carry out diagnostic studies on ongoing EPFCM projects to measure what is achieved compared to the project plan based on progress reports and feedback to ensure timely completion and formulate an action plan for schedule adherence.
  • Complete schedule risk analysis when required and advise action plan to mitigate any discovered delays.
  • Lead and participate in department development activities for continual improvement in the project control systems & services.
  • Participate in Project Kickoff Meetings.
  • Interface with Applications group in the preparation of proposal level schedules.
  • Develop manufacturing plot plans for space allocation and manufacturing work face plans.
  • Develop field project controls documents related to construction site activities if necessary.


  • 5 years of experience in Planning/Scheduling at an advanced level using Primavera P-6.
  • 5 years of experience with an EPCM company (Oil & Gas Engineering/Fabrication).
  • Good understanding of financial metrics.
  • Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritize activities and stay focused in a dynamic ever changing environment.
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop departmental “Key Performance Indicators”.
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite (emphasis on Word, PowerPoint, & Excel), Lotus Notes, Acrobat Pro, Primavera P-6 and other software systems.


  • Excellent skills in all aspects of project scheduling including logic development, progress measurement, schedule impact analysis, resource loading/leveling and schedule risk analysis. etc.
  • Familiar with cost analysis integration and forecasting as it relates to planning and scheduling.
  • Knowledgeable of scope control and change management and has demonstrated ability to incorporate directed changes into schedule baseline. Knowledgeable in earned value methodology.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills – must be able to interact successfully with all levels of staff, from Managers to Senior Executives, with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity toward client engagements and confidentiality when interacting with TDE leadership.
  • Adaptability and the ability to handle ambiguity.


  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • PMP/PMI certification an asset.
  • Advanced Primavera P-6 Certification.
