Structural Design Draftsperson

Position Summary : The primary role of a Structural Design Draftsperson is preparation of fabrication drawings utilizing Tekla and AutoCad software with a high degree of accuracy and independence.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Revise and generate the following drawings: Tekla 3D structural drawings, material take-offs, stick drawings, pipe racks, cable racks, crane drawings and skid drawings.
  • Generate any other miscellaneous drawings (i.e. skids, ladders, platforms, etc) as requested.
  • Revise standard drawings as necessary.
  • Back drafting and revision of shop drawings.
  • Back-drafting or “As Builts” from other disciplines

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in plant design in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritize activities and stay focused in a dynamic ever changing environment.
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop departmental “Key Performance Indicators”.
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite (emphasis on Word, PowerPoint, & Excel), Lotus Notes, Acrobat Pro, and other software systems.

Skills

  • Proficiency working with AutoCad and Tekla including the ability to use all features of the program.
  • Proficiency working with Process Industry Practices for structural (STF..), Alberta Building Code, Canada Building Code, NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, ASTM.
  • Familiarity with instrument symbols, welding symbols and processes.
  • Extensive knowledge structural sections, detailing, and connections.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills – must be able to interact successfully with all levels of staff, from Managers to Senior Executives, with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity toward client engagements and confidentiality when interacting with TDE leadership.
  • Adaptability and the ability to handle ambiguity.

Education

  • Structural Engineering Technology, Petroleum Engineering Technology or Engineering Design / Drafting Technology Diploma or equivalent.
