Vessel Design Draftsperson

Position SummaryThe primary role of a Vessel Design Draftsperson is drawing preparation for various pressure vessels. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Revise and generate the following drawings:
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s)
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s)
    • Pressure Vessels
  • Generate any other miscellaneous drawings (i.e. skids, ladders, platforms, etc) as requested.
  • Revise standard drawings as necessary.
  • Back drafting and revision of shop drawings.
  • Back-drafting or “As Builts” from other disciplines

Safety 

  • Support, participate in, and help drive the overall company safety program, safety awareness, and safety targets.
  • Consistently demonstrate “Safety Leadership” qualities.

Education

  • Engineering Design / Drafting Technology Diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • 5-10 years' experience in vessel/exchanger design in a manufacturing environment. Fabrication shop experience is an asset. 
  • Proficient knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritize activities and stay focused in a dynamic ever changing environment.
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop departmental “Key Performance Indicators”.
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite (emphasis on Word, PowerPoint, & Excel), Lotus Notes, Acrobat Pro, and other software systems.

Skills

  • Proficiency working with AutoCad including the ability to use all features of the program.
  • General knowledge of ANSI and ASME codes.
  • Familiarity with instrument symbols, welding symbols and processes.
  • Proficiency with Tekla Structures (X Steel) and the ability to use all features of the program.
  • Extensive knowledge structural sections, detailing, and connections.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills – must be able to interact successfully with all levels of staff, from Managers to Senior Executives, with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity toward client engagements and confidentiality when interacting with TDE leadership.
  • Adaptability and the ability to handle ambiguity.
